I have a DELL LATITUDE D610 with windows XP and Ubuntu 10.4 dual boot. For the past 2 weeks I have been trying to find out how to get the built in wireless card to work but I find I am hitting my haed againt a brick wall.
Some people on forums say it is an over site on Ubuntu's behalf as they have not installed them in this version. I have tried Ndiswrapper but still no joy. I usually have no problems but this one has stumped me, should I install one of the old versions of linux which is said to work?
can anyone tell if they have the same problem if possible with the same model of laptop and how they solved it?
Thanks for any help very eager to learn as have spent many years on a unnamed system that never has worked properly.
Then, copy & paste for us the whole chunk that shows the wireless card. NOT the entire output of that command, ONLY the part for the wireless card. Only with the above information (at the very least) can we begin to try to help you get the wireless working.

What wireless card do you have? You can find out some useful information using the command lspci. You might need to run it as root. It'll list various bits of hardware on your mother board. Look for your wireless interface. I'll give you something to put into google (along with the word ubuntu)
When I first started out, it took me a while to figure out that I had to push the wireless button to get the device to actually work. Otherwise it was perfectly setup. Once you push it, you'll need to set your essid and such, or just run dhclient3 wlan0 if you have something to connect to of that type.
First of all soz for using word urgent but would like to get this up and running. My wireless network card drivers and version are Dell Wireless 350 Bluetooth Internal Module << return to results
I have also turn on the wireless using the function & F2 keys it works in winblows but not in linux.
also I find that switching monitors using funtion & F8 using the laptop to monitor. It does not switch over smooth either both run or just the LCD on the laptop. I can press the 2 buttons again but sometimes have to restart ubuntu to try again as external monitor keeps giving no signal..

Kind regards.
Hi grapefruit Girl there is no mention of a wireless card anywhere in the hardware list after typing lspci -vnn. I do have the drivers though I downloaded them from the Dell site and extracted them from the EXE file so that I have the drivers folder and all of the files required to install wireless.
