upgrading windows on a dual boot


I'm running win 98 and RH 7.2 and i'm wanting to upgrade windows to xp. will upgrading mess with the MBR at all?

when i reinstalled XP i could not find an option to not overwrite the MBR... i had to boot from linux floppies then run /sbin/lilo and lilo wrote back over the MBR...

make *N*X boot floppy
sidegrade Windoze
boot from floppy
/sbin/grub-install /dev/hda# insert appropriate hdx
to reinstall grub

Yes, I believe I haven't ever seen an option either, just like meat-head said. Once XP is installed, you will need to put back in your linux CD's and rerun lilo, or from boot floppies as meat-head suggested. Remember that you cannot (not rock solid, but still in very ALPHA stages) write to NTFS, and may want to create a Fat32 partition to share info on.
