Upgrading Ubuntu 8.04 ???

Hi i was wondering whether it would be worth trying to upgrade from 8.04 to 9.04 and whether this would affect the set-up that i currently have (as it took me a little while to get the wireless internet working) also would this fix the problems i am having with enabling desktop effects as when the nvidia driver is installed the screen resolution cannot be put up from 640x480. i have already post a thread regarding tht problem btw. thanks in advance

I personally did similar to you, had really wished I haded upgraded my Ubuntu, each update took longer and my machine was slower as a result. If you do want to upgrade my personal recommendation would be to back up your /home directory (and any config files that you customized) and then do a fresh install of 9.04 and reload accordingly

thanks thts a very good idea as at the moment i am having some issues the grub as for some silly reason there is two lots of ubuntu installed as the grub file was corrupt
