Wink upgrading to AN9-32X

Hi All Im new here to the forum and need a little advise. I have been running for the last 6 years an Asrock socket A with AMD athlon XP 2700+, 1Gb ram. This machine is fantastically fast & stable for an old PC, problem is im running out of sata connections as this only has 2 on the motherboard. I have just bought myself a brand new (old stock) Abit AN9-32X motherboard as it has 6 onboard sata’s, I would like to know what is the fastest for me CPU that will go in it, Im not a gamer, I don’t have any games on my PC & I will not be over clocking. I use the PC for home \ work and it has a lot of automotive software on. Thing is I don’t want to build it all up and its going to be slower that what Im using now, any advise would be appreciated

Thanks

Hi

See this very thorough review of your motherboard: http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleID=2056

According to this your board supports a wide range of AMD Athlon and Sempron processors so you are spoilt for choice here.

I suggest you go here and check out the different options available: http://www.amd.com/uk/products/deskt...rocessors.aspx

Personally I'd go for a 64 bit processor since your board supports more than 4GB of RAM.

Cheers,
Yas
