Upgrading Gnome

Ok, why is this so hard? All i want is for my Pc to have the latest and greatest of gnome, Why do i need to build this, recode that, change this.. fine, if this is the way forward, i accept, what about the rest of us.. those of use with lives.. Is the only clear way forward to upgrade from fedora Core 3 to core 4? Why? I don't want to run Fedora Core 4 everything i read says NOOO!!

Is there a REALLY simple way to ugrade Gnome in its entirety tfrom 2.08 to 2.10.x
