Question Upgrading and Partitioning

I'm currently running Mandrake 8.1 and am wanting to upgrade to 8.2. My current partitions are as follows:

HDA1 Windows ME 6.8 GB
HDA 5 / 3.4 GB
HDA 6 /Swap 243 MB (I have 190 MB RAM)
HDA 7 /Home 17 GB

I plan on eliminating ME but don't want to re-format my /Home so I can keep my current settings. I'm not sure what would be the best allowcation of space. I was thinking of installing 8.2 in my current Windows partition but since it's twice the size of my current root partition I don't know if I should re-size and make it smaller. And if I decide not to re-format my /home partition that leaves me with the space that is currently root. I'm the only user and I have a 30 gig hard drive. Any suggestions?

Also I went to the download page for 8.2 and I'm not sure where to even start. Can anybody help? All help GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks!

well , seeing as your'e using mandrake i'd suggest just taking the easy way out. upgrade to 8.2 without changing the system, and then use diskdrake to format windows as /usr. mandrake will move all the relevent stuff from the /usr/ on your / partition to the new seperate one and update fstab for you.

downloads.. get the 3 standard i586 8.2 iso's.
