Upgrade RHEL 5.4 x64 to RHEL 5.8 x64


Hi all,
Could you please support me upgrade RHEL 5.4 x64 to RHEL 5.8 x64 version!

that's not an upgrade. and upgrade would be from RHEL 5 to RHEL 6.

That's just keeping patched. run "yum update" and it'll change the version number as part of the process. The minor versions are really just baselines or package updates, so you aren't always going back to the original version from a few years ago on every install and then having to upgrade pretty much every single package on the system.

depending on how the rhel5 yum repos are configured

" yum update" will do it
but
if the repos are set to 5.4 and not 5.x then you might need to use this

yum --releasever=5.9 update
