Updating Mandrake 9.2 Kernel

I'm completly new to Linux and I was told to try out Mandrake version 9.2. I've got it downloaded and burned onto disks. I've also read that it is recommened to update the kernel cause the old one has a lot of bugs. I found intructions on the Mandrake website but it all confused me. Can someone help me find the right files and help me update the kernel?

Thanks in advance.

In the console type

uname -a

For me, at least, would NOT touch the kernel if everything is going smooth. one thing I learned about Linux is that you shouldn't change anything that doesn't need to be changed. I remember I upgraded my kernel source and I had to deal with losing my video and it got all messy.
