Exclamation update or install not happening!!

well i am having this strange problem whenever i try to update my fedora 8 from console using yum it first checks the repositories of fedora, then of livna and then of adobe but after that it tries to check the primary.sqlite.bz2 then the console shows this output!

primary.sqlite.bz2 100% |=========================| 861 kB 00:48
http://ftp.jaist.ac.jp/pub/Linux/Fed...ry.sqlite.bz2: [Errno -1] Metadata file does not match checksum
Trying other mirror.

and after that it tries some other mirrors and shows this error:

Error: failure: repodata/primary.sqlite.bz2 from updates: [Errno 256] No more mirrors to try.

please suggest what to do?

first, try

yum clean all
yum clean metadata

Are you connected directly to the internet or are you going through a proxy?
