up2date 110 Connection Error

Dear Linux Gurus,

I'm having a problem with trying to get up2date to run on my Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 box.

Basically when I try to register using the Redhat Update Agent it hangs on the first screen. A quick tail of the up2date log file in /var/log/ shows the following output:

up2date A socket error occurred: (110, 'Connection timed out'), attempt 1

I have configured up2date to use my proxy server and I do have internet connectivity over http and https. I can connect to the Redhat network site through the Mozilla browser.

The site up2date has been configured to connect to is :

https://xmlrpc.rhn.redhat.com/XMLRPC

Having googled this error I'm at a loss as to what the issue could be.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Sorry if this problem has been covered elsewhere but I was not able to find any threads with a solution to this issue.

Thanks

Paul

I don't think the problem is with you. I used to get the same errors running Fedora core 3 and it was always a problem with Red hat's update site. I could be wrong in your case but that was always the case with mine.
