Red hat 7.2 is from October 2001. Chances are that old linux kernel doesn't support this piece of hardware. Try using a newer distribution (which will have a newer kernel).
If you like Red Hat, try the latest Fedora (Fedora 11, I think) or CentOS (a free clone of Red Hat Enterprise Linux).
If you don't particularly care which linux distro, I'd say try out one of the top 10 from distrowatch. There are a lot of good distros available -- Slackware, Debian, Ubuntu, PCLinuxOS, Mint, OpenSuse, Fedora, Mandriva, etc...
