Unable to play video on newly installed Sony DVD/CD player

I recently purchased a DRX-S70U DVD/CD Rewritable Drive from Sony. It plays audio but no video from any DVD. Video and audio from other sources are playable. My OS distr is Ubuntu 7.10. I am unable to read the supplied Sony software on Linux. What is the problem and what to do?

Hi and welcome to LQ.

In order to play encrypted dvd, you need to install libdvdcss. To install this package on Ubuntu, follow the instructions in this link.
