Wink unable to log in

Hello
A friend installed Debian Linux onto a laptop for me and I cannot log in for username and password. I know that both are correct. He did some configuring for automatic updates, when computer is off and I dont know if this is the cause. I cannot ask him for help atm as he has had some tragic circumstances. Can anybody help me please?

If they were correct, you'd be able to login. Perhaps you are capitalizing something wrong?

If not that, you can boot from a live iso and change your password from there.

Hi Jennae, welcome to LQ.

Check out this link: https://logmeonce.com/resources/debi...root-password/

Reset the root password, after resetting login as root then change the account password that you want to login.

Or checkout this YT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H9jjm81-nFg

A quick way to check that possibility would be to enter your password experimentally into the "user" box so that you can actually see what you have typed.

I would rather ask my friend (who installed it) to show how can it be used.
