I want to install Puppy on laptop HD. When I run the Universal Installer and select GParted it brings up the Hard Drive (SDA -ATA Toshiba MK6015MA 5.595 Gib) is on Old Compaq Presario 1200. I'll select that drive and hit ok it just takes me back to the Universal Installer Screen. When I first started the Hard Drive was listed and somehow I must have removed it.
Is there another program where I can select the HD and partition it etc. Newby which needs help.

Personally I made a good experience with Knoppix.
Use GParted in knoppix for making a
100 MB Linux ext3 boot
100 MB Linux ext3 swap
Rest ext3.
Then go out of knoppix, start a live CD of TinyCoreLinux (read the installation FAQ).. spend few hours in installing.. and you will have a rocket speed with your machine.
