I can ping the primary DNS (218.248.240.208) and the local Ip address (10.230.241.179) but pinging to Secondary DNS (218.248.240.135) and remote ip address (10.6.6.6) yielded in a blinking curser for a long time.
i can ping the google ip (74.125.77.103) but not www.google.com. That's very strange

Don't know redhat, perhaps someone else can help with that
I think there is something with ifcfg-[name of device] under /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ (I am not so sure) that need to be set NM_CONTROLLED=no and USERCTL=yes. So you can configure ppp connection manually. CMIIW.
Hi Hurry_Hui
under /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ ifcfg-lo,ifcfg-eth0 and ifcfg-wlan0 are availabe. And none of them are related to the USB Phone modem that I am using. Can you be a bit more specific about the type (name) of file that I should be looking for configuring ppp connection.
Besides I removed the APN as you said. But it had no effect. The connection was successful but the problem remained the same. Firefox said "Addreass not found".
I suppose this is a problem related to DNS. And very dissappointingly I have no concept related to DNS.
Anybody can provide me some suggestions hoe\w to get this problem solved.
Hello Hurry
Ya I can connect to the net by phone's browser. In fact I have gprs connection.
This thing needs a gprs card recharge. After rechargeing I am able to access the internet 24X7 completely free. The number that I need to dial is *99#. that's all. It gets connected.
That's the method for windows.
by the way I tried out something in vain of course. A friend of mine asked me to disable the IPV6 support in firefox. His prob was almost the same and that was solved after he disabled it. But that thing didin't work for me.

HUY GUYS I HAVE SOLVED THE PROBLEM,,,THANKS A LOT TO REPO.............
Actually it was my fault that I had misspelt the word 'nameserver' in configuring the file in /etc/resolv.conf
nameserver xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
nameserver xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
Thanks again to all for trying out this problem....
