ubuntu through virtualbox question

Hello everyone. I am currently running ubuntu through virtualbox. When I open up the vm the virtualbox is too small to fit the entire ubuntu image inside it. I have tried messing around with the settings in ubuntu, but I cant even get to most of the settings because the screen will not scroll down or to the right anymore. I am very new to linux... so Im not sure what to do. I have also done google searches and have came up empty.

Most folks install the "additions" or tools that come with the virtual machine. Depending on a number of things you should be able to install them. https://www.virtualbox.org/manual/ch04.html
Depends a bit on the host and client as to how you install them.

Other issues may be how the video driver is installed on the client OS and how the settings are used.

Definitely install "Guest Additions." For that you will need to install the kernel headers in Ubuntu in the VM. This is an old Ubuntu forum thread, but it may help: https://askubuntu.com/questions/2274...-virtualbox-vm

Try using the scaled view in the VM.

I have Ubuntu in a VM. It took me a while to get it to recognize the 1024x768 resolution that the VM was capable of. Unity did not want to cooperate. Eventually, I installed LXDE, adjusted the resolution in LXDE, then Unity because usable.

Afterthought:

I really really don't like Unity. It is annoying.
