Ubuntu Mate 20.04 messaging administration disabled

Hi, I have a problem with the date widget (upper right in system toolbar).
In every description I read there should be a list of showed messages. I don't have this available. I made the mistake on a homepage to accept messages (from a newspaper) thinking it was only for the time I am on the page. In between I get those messages all the time, annoying. I would like to stop that, and also be able to see previous messages, sometimes I miss one. I have searched a lot t find out by myself, without success. Is there a tool can install to achieve?
Thankful for any help, regards
Dag

I may be missing something here, so this is just a request for clarification.

In my Ubuntu MATE system, when I click on the date icon, I get a little calendar with the options to add an event and to configure the date and time settings. The "messages" icon looks like a little mailbox a bit to the left of the date display itself. Could it be the "mailbox" that you are referring to or am I totally overlooking something about the date display?

Hi, thanks for answering, No I am not referring to mailbox, obviously I miss that button "messages". It is not there, looked 100 times. Please take a look at the screenshot attached. In German "message" would be "Meldung". That's why I asked if I have to install a widget or a tool, I installed Mate 20.04 completely normally.

Best regards, Dag

I have no idea what you're asking.

Searching the mate-panel repo for "Bearbeiten" reveals where it is used in applets/clock/calendar-window.c but there's nothing related to "messages" in that file. (As one would expect if that area might contain such a button.)

Searching the entire repo for "messages" does not reveal anything relating to the calendar or clock applet at all, (but it does reference a notification_area applet).

Searching the repo for "meldung" reveals no results, nor does the German translation file appear to contain anything relevant.

Please provide a link to at least one of those descriptions.

Also, it may help to re-state your issue in different words. (I can't tell if the newspaper subscription part is relevant or a distinct second issue.)

It is pretty simple though, there is no message-button to find where I thought it should be.
Thanks for your effort and I a sorry I don't write understandably.
The more important thing for me: How ca I stop receiving unwanted messages?

Regards, Dag

I found the applet. It was a misunderstanding from my side to seek the notifications in the date applet.
Tanks fo the help!
