Question ubuntu install did not work -- could not log on

Installed ubuntu on Windows XP machine. Dual boot seemed to be fine, but at log in -- message was that user name and pass word are case sensitive. I suspect a faulty cd or operator error, but spent most of day reinstalling XP

- I want to instal Ubuntu, but I wonder if a different approach may be wiser ie.
- down load latest Ubunto installation iso and burn a new installation cd???
- would the installation process on the new cd allow me to install Ubuntu to an usb memory stick? Can a memory stick be properly formatted using an installation cd? How much memory should the memory stick have?
- would an external hard drive be a better choice?

Hi,

Am trying to answer your questions.

Much wiser yes. You can download Ubuntu from here.

Yes. There is/are ways to do that, Ubuntu installer maybe offers that option there. Under Slackware that is a part the dvd.

Usually installer CD's have that option.

4 Gigabyte is conservative size. 8 can make the system useful most of the time. Bigger the better.

Much better.

Goodluck.
