Hi, Thanks again. I managed to get this fixed following links and eventually ended up

Post #7 holds the answer
other symptoms that didn't bother me was keyboard repeating that ended after a second. This bothered me while scrolling in the terminal, didn't think it was related.
This seems to affect kernel 4.13
