I just did a dual partition of linux and windows xp. Linux works fine, however, when I try to start up windows xp, it loads, then takes me to a screen and says there is some error and must shut down. Is there any way I can still load xp and solve this problem??

Install the XP CD and use the repair option see if that works. I'm not sure if the fixmbr command works in XP as it dosn't realy use the Dos command system anymore, suppose it's just a way of keeping people away from the programming and command line part of computing that Linux uses.
Now thats a thought do you think MS are using dirty tactics to keep people away from Linux
Mandrake works fine, but when I load up windows, it takes me to a screen and says xmnt2002 program not found - skipping AUTOCHECK, it then takes me to another blue screen and says some fatal error occured and shuts down. Does anybody know whats the solution to this problem? Is it because of partition magic?
i think you have problem with you bios.
go to bios and check the option of your hard drive that installed boot loader, usually primary. and change auto detection to LBA.
i ve heard that grub and some linux boot loader cannot detect windows with auto detect.
