total noob

Hi! I bought a retail box Suse 9.1, awhile back.
I tried it a little on a laptop and was just too busy to learn the system.

Yesterday I bought the components and put together a box, just for Linux.
MSI/ K8MM-V -board
AMD/ SEMPRON CPU
SEAGATE/100GB/7200 RPM drive
512 MG DDR RAM
16X DUAL LAYER DVD burner
52x Samsung CD
9-in ine CF card reader
floppy----yad, yada, yada.

I just installed SuSe on a 50gig partition and I'm going to install VECTOR LINUX SOHO on the remaining partition.

Upon install, SuSe downloaded and installed A HUUUUGE UPDATE. Much to my dismay it still doesn't play DVD's!!!! Bummer!

I going to the search function to look it up, gotta' have my movies!

Btw, I'm using KONQUEROR, right now.

Please be kind to ignorant, see ya'!

Here, try this.

http://www.linux-mag.com/content/view/2378/

This is for 10.0, and I haven't touched SUSE in a while, but it'll probably get you started. You seem to know about Google, so try it.

Attacking a moderator with your second post is not the course of wisdom, young one. This is not usenet, drop the attitude.

BTW, there's a section for intros: http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...splay.php?f=24,

Edit:
You DO need to use better titles.

wow this looks like a heated little discussion.

"Much to my dismay it still doesn't play DVD's"

seeing as nobody seems to have answered your question (probably cos you didn't ask one) i thought i'd try

i'll start by asking you some questions
what are you using to try and play the dvds?
xine, mplayer... other??
have you got the correct dvd decoders installed?
i think its libdvdcss or something similar.
its probably not SUSE thats to blame but the player/lack of librarys you have installed

as this seems to be a post about a video player then it would have been a good idea to put that in the title. and generally rudeness doesn't get you anywhere in life either on forums or in real life.
