i need tor browser to get an info from some usa website which denied my access because i am in germany.
when i tried to run tor after long time of not using.. it just .... "freezes" there doing nothing, no interface appears..
my manjaro xfce is becoming so sluggish.. slower than windows7 that i used to use. same pc.. what a disappointment. i can't reinstall manjaro just yet, really have no time.. on top of issues unsolved and new issue occuring .. such as tor browser today.
i have removed tor, and reinstalled from depo, but nothing seems to help. what can i do to troubleshoot.. at least some info on what's wrong. so that i can post in forum.
htop is of no use in this case, because i can't find tor in htop.
How did you install tor, what's the name of the package?
In addition to uninstalling it, remove ~/.tor-browser and/or ~/.local/share/torbrowser, then reinstall.
i have removed the .torbrowser
where to see what my package is ?

I am having the same issue, Ondohoo. I installed Tor from the depository,[AUR]. Could you
please tell where to find the two files to remove. I looked in my directory and could not find them.
From the download page, I can open the Tor Browser
and it functions as it should, nevertheless, this requires
too many key presses to work. This is not very functionable
nor user friendly.
Furthermore, I have no idea whether or not, it can be installed
into the lower tray. I seriously doubt it.
Why the repository installation stop working is a failure of the
OS or some update conflict. In fact, I have the same issue with
"CopyQ" the clip art manager.
Well, well we have determined Blueicetwice is in the bottom half of the class.[bottom half of the bottom half]
I failed to go to the "Tor Browsre Launcher Settings." In dat dialogue box under "Status", the user needs to click or tick which should read "1st Install." This actually completes the installation and not the one from the repository. When this is complete, it will read [with a check mark] "reinstall browser.
Nice to find a solution, which was the operator's fault. I will now go and flog myself or rename my Rhodesian Ridgeback [or are they Zimbabwe Ridgeback ?] Herr Tor.

I don't understand why you have such difficulties with Tor Browser.
I use torbrowser-launcher from [community] and never have any problems.
edit: completely remove the directory /home/<username>/.local/share/torbrowser before using it.
Ondoho, I did find the file and removed it. I will reinstall and remove the file and
see if dat solves the issues.
EDIT: I installed directly from the Tor-Tor project and placed
the download onto the desktop. Now, I click the icon and the browser
opens up. :<)( hip, hip para!
A minor inconvenience, however, at least it works. Now I know how
to find files. There must be an installation issue from the AUR
or it has been hacked by the NSA.
