Thread Scheduling Question.

Does a Thread time-share with other threads that are part of (Edit: the same) process, or do they get equal opportunity as compared with a different process all together?

Thanks in advance!

I think that I found a succinct answer to your question in an article by Moshe Bar:

"Linux doesn't really make any distinction between a process and a thread from a memory management and scheduling point of view."

http://www.linuxjournal.com/article/3910

Therefore a thread competes on an equal footing with all other threads without reference as to what process they are a part of.

Thank You for the Reply and Link!

Sorry it took so long for a response. All I could find myself were a few documents that danced around the subject. That's a great article! I thought that Linux Journal had only Marketing style articles. I was wrong.
