Your file has probably been truncated, check the length of your file, and what length it should be. Also check your disk space, this is sometimes a cause of files getting truncated.
There are two different errors and I'm not sure if one is related to the other. Anyway, what if you try to uncompress the file, then extract the archive?
Code:
$ gzip -d expdp_nic_wls_gs_tst_20110927.tgz
$ tar -xvf expdp_nic_wls_gs_tst_20110927.tar
You can clearly see the unexpected end of file error, that is your problem. The file is truncated. If your file is the same as where you got it from, then the source file is truncated too. Try going to the other file and using the "t" switch to test the tar:
tar tvfz expdp_nic_wls_gs_tst_20110927.tgz
You will get the same error on both files, is my prediction. Check the disk space on where the source file is.
