Question Takes time to load & doesn't shutdown completely


i have installed ubuntu ultimate edition 10.04 in my toshiba c650 recently,however it is taking too long before it startup. 2 when i log off the cursor still remain untill all power have been discharged. what could be the problem

HI, welcome to LQ.

Perhaps there are a lot of unnecessary services are starting up while the system starts. You can manually select the minimum number of services, you needed while the system starts up.

You tried to log off or shutdown ?

Don't know, since you've not provided any details. However, you say "recently"....what did you change? Has this problem just started, and what did you do before it started?

I bet there was an update that takes to 10.10.

You shutdown your system by command or by clicking shutdown button !
