Question System info using dmidecode command are empty on some PC

Hi guys.

I tried to issue a command: dmidecode | grep -A3 -i "system info"
and the result is this:

System Information
Manufacturer: Dell Inc.
Product Name: Precision WorkStation 390
Version: Not Specified

But, as I try to use the same command on other PC, only this appeared:

System Information
Manufacturer:
Product Name:
Version:

As you can see, it's empty. Both PCs are using Centos 4.6. What could be the problem here? and What can I do to solve this? Many thanks great minds!

Probably nothing. If the DMI table is empty or can't be found you will see blank values. If the motherboard is really old it might not comply with the DMTF standard.

Is it a Dell workstation?

Bingo! I have seen exactly this on newer motherboards (after replacement) where dmidecode output is empty. This is due to DMI table being empty.

@OP, you should review motherboard documentation or perhaps reach out to manufacturer.

Based from its sticker on the pc tower, it says "IPC-7220-00XE".

I believe IPC-7220-00XE is the model number of the chassis. There could be a version mismatch between dmidecode installed with CentOS 4.6 and the motherboard. CentOS 4.6 went end of life over 10 years ago.
