swap space


Hi,

While booting the machine,the system seems hang due to enabling swap space.
We installed red hat 4.2 in vmware (windows xp).

[root@perf1 /]# swapon -s
Filename Type Size Used Priority
/swapfile2 file 2867592 152600 -1
/dev/sda2 partition 2867592 0 -2

[root@per1 /]# cat /proc/swaps

whenever boot the machine we faced it.please anyone help me out that.

Do you mean RedHat Enterprise 4.2?

You have not posted anything to describe what exactly happens during boot up.

/proc/meminfo is showing a total swap value that seems to match the sum of your swap partition and the swapfile. Did you specifically (intentionally) create both of these?
