Suse dial up!

Hi to u all, I'm a complete newbie in this forum and I've installed Linux Suse 10 for the first time yesterday, on my main desktop, cause I just wanted...to try it!! (and to get rid of daily viruses I found on xp!).

I got a silly problem but it's important: i can't connect with my dial up! I've got an internal modem, I added it manually (hopèe in the right way) and then...simply I don't know where to click for making it dial ISP number!!

Somebody told me to search bottom right for a little status symbol, but in bottom right of my panel there are only desktop selectors, nothing else!

Please, I know it's a stupid question but I need answer to use my new system and launch firefox for 1st time!!

Thanks a lot
Emiliano

welcome to LQ

I think you are looking for kppp
(one of the menu)

or start a terminal and type kppp <enter>

other issue is whether your modem will work
see
http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/

post modem type (after you have done some searches)

PS: try to make thread title more comprehensive and meaningfull next time please

It will be a steep but rewarding curve.
See lq bookmark for newbie admin guide and search for rute as well.
Look also at distro documentation

Happy linux, happy learning

Edit 2: if you run as root (only for admin thing)
open a terminal
type
su
then type
lspci -v
This should list your modem

Edit 3: There is some modem / connection configuration in suse
Did you try to launch yast (i think it is)
