SuSE: Compiler question

Hello everyone, I made the switch from Mandrake 10.0 to SuSE ( the download version ) and I am having a bit of a problem with the installation of programs. I keep coming up with this:

Code:
linux:/home/eek/Desktop/kopete-0.8.4 # ./configure
checking build system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu
checking host system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu
checking target system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu
checking for a BSD-compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c
checking for -p flag to install... yes
checking whether build environment is sane... yes
checking for gawk... gawk
checking whether make sets $(MAKE)... no
checking for style of include used by make... none
checking for gcc... no
checking for cc... no
checking for cc... no
checking for cl... no
configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH
See `config.log' for more details.
linux:/home/eek/Desktop/kopete-0.8.4 #
Does this mean that I do not have a C compiler or that I just do not know where it is? I tried to use the Konsole to find it, but the locate command does not work.

Thanks for the help,
Eric.

You don't have it as far as I'm aware.

Are you using Personal or Professional. If Professional, it'll come on one of your CDs. I made sure I installed make and gcc and various other things when installing it.

Just go to YaST, and install the stuff from the CDs. Then it'll work.

I have the Personal CD, just the one that you can download off the net. I take it that is does not come with it?

Eric.

I'm not sure, however I don't this so. Go to YaST, select "Install and Remove Software", and search for make and gcc, and see if it comes on the CD.
