Suse 9.3 - not working internet

Hello.
I installed Linux Suse 9.3 on my pc 2 days ago. Since then am trying to fix the internet and I don't know what else can I do.
I connect through lan card Realtek 8139 with the router from where my internet comes. The half pc works with Windows XP from where the internet has no problem. But when I switch on to Linux, it doesn't work at all.
I went at Yast, at the beginning it was not finding the network card , so I showed it which one it is, and then filled in the data about the IP, DNS, Mask etc.
After I finished it was not working. I tried to connect to the router and it doesn't do it at all which makes me think that my network is not fixed.
I did it again and again and until now have no result. I suppose that am not doing something correctly.
Please, anybody can help me?

I understood that the pc see the network card.
It tells me that the ethernet is not configured.
I went to yast where the network card is, I pressed Edit and wrote again IP, Gateway, Mask and it save it correctly. I press next and then finish. Why does it tells me that is not configured?
I wrote at one place that I can see t if I have the IP with ifconfig
I go to the file system, inside the bin, I find the ifonfig, I press to open it and it doesn't open. Why?

what is the lan-ip of your router?
Try to ping that ip: ping 192.168.1.1 (fill in your router-ip)

To view ifconfig, go into a shell, log in as root with 'su', fill in your root password (enter) and than run the command 'ifconfig'
The other usefull command here is 'route'

suc6!
