I have some trouble with a user login. Don't know what happened I just arrived on the scene of the accident. When logging in as the user, the YaSt screen comes up with only the icons on the left hand side and no options other than that. So the only solution is to click ok. By doing that the machine just restarts the X-server and shows the login box. The other users are fine when they log in. So my conclusion is that it is some config file that went missing. Can someone tell me where and what to look for.
What do you mean with "the YaST screen comes up"? Do you expect to see YaST when you log in? Usually, when I log in, I expect to see my Desktop. Not YaST or any other application.
Please be more specific.
It is supposed to bring up the desktop, rather the YaST control center comes up (but with no options)...
I push the ok button and it goes away, ends the session and I'm right back at the GUI Login screen. There must be a config file missing for the user because none of th other users have that problem.
Use the drop down menu in the KDM/GDM session manager (where you log on graphically) and select KDE. One of the selections is an Administrative Session. Also, I hope you don't log in as root routinely.
