Question SuSE 8 and "make" command

I really must be losin' it...

I had compiled several modules for wireless LAN access in SuSE 7.3. These used a "Make" command (Make config, Make all, Make install, etc.)

I just installed SuSE 8.0--do I have to use a specific option to get the write gizmos and gadgets so I can do this? Right now as root all I get is "bash: make not found" or something like that...

What's the deal? Any ideas?

Like I said...I am a newbie!

May be it didn't get installed. If you press "make" in a console, do you get Command not found? I am using SuSe 8 too. I was amazed that many very important packages don't get installed in a base install. Even packages, that are in the LFS distro

Make not installed?

Now that's just brilliant.. I was trying to say that I was running a window with root permission and was getting the "make command not found" error...

Well if it is not easy to find I am just going right back to 7.3--better safe than sorry...

Well, using yast2 to install is VERY easy...just enter the software installer and press the search button...on my system it is installed
I am just confused why it didn't get installed
But hey...don't just give up a new Distro because of one little package...SuSe 8 is a great Distro!

You probably need to install the SuSE linux kernel and the aprts of the 'd' package. The parts (gcc, lex, etc...) should be picked up by the dependancies check.
