hi i have just installed slackware and evrything went fine but i m having a couple of problems with it : the first one is it didn t recognize my mouse (i m using a 3 button optical mouse) , and when i try using xf86config from the root shell like described on slackware.com it says command not found same thing for SuperProbe command , also i have 2 cd-roms drive but slackware just found one !! i hope that someone got some answers for this , or @ least if it s really hard explaining what to do here , or if my questions are very stupid , i would appreciate if you can plz guide me to a good book that will teach me how to master all this. thanks a lot for the help guys

OK i m really disappointed with the slackware people , i have read their book and their documentation and i think they should do a better job writing stuff ! first the xf86config turned to be not xf86config but xorgconfig , i mean come on when you change the name of something why not wright it in your how to guide for newbies , after that came my mouse problem ,running xorgconfig did nothing to correct this despite the fact that i have chosen microsoft for my mouse type and it is microsoft , so i had to research and find out i had to pico the xorgconfig and instead of microsoft or ps2 it was imps/2 and for the wheel to work i had to add Option "Buttons" "5" Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5" , what s 4 and what s 4 5 and why imps/2 for a microsoft mouse i still don t know despite trying to search what it means , then my cdrom problem wich still persist , for a reason slackware can find my prislave cd but won t find my sec Master one why i don t know is there a book , i m searching and i m not finding one , so please people if someone know a book on how to understand slackware let me know , and if someone have an idea how to correct the cdrom problems i would also appreciate it , thanks in advance , it s ok i think i have managed to add a second cd rom i have added this line to fstab : /dev/hdc /mnt/cdrom iso9660 noauto,user,ro 0 0
so i think it will be working

you need something like /dev/input/mice

is it a usb mouse? cordless?
