sudo password different from non-sudo password

On our new server, I first logged in to change the password and got this error:

You must wait longer to change your password
passwd: Authentication token manipulation error

So I did this: sudo passwd and changed the password.

Now I can sudo using the old or original password and my regular password is the new one. How can I sync up the two passwords?

Thanks in advance.

You're confusing something along the way here. you have a root password, and you have your user password. there is no such thing as a "sudo password", but that password would be the user password.

I agree with acid kewpie. There are usually two password, root and user password.

There is nothing as sudo password. Actually it's asking for user password who is running SUDO.

if you still haven't got it then please do share more info or a screenshots.
