Struggling to Set Up Persistent Linux Installation on USB Drive

Hello,

This is my first time installing Linux, and I'm having trouble making it persistent. I want to install Parrot Security on a USB drive and be able to boot from different PCs to work on it.

To do this, I formatted a USB drive with Ventoy and added the Parrot Security ISO image along with a persistence.dat file.

When I boot from the USB drive, I'm prompted to choose between "Boot without persistence" and "Boot with persistence myfilename.dat" (which I select).

Then, I reach the graphical interface of the distribution. I click to install Parrot Security.

The only problem is that it asks me to choose one of the PC's hard drives, but I don't have access to the USB drive. (So, at this point, how should I proceed to be able to use the USB drive on another PC?)

Nevertheless, I proceed with the installation on a new partition among the PC's hard drives.

Then, I create a folder. But when I reboot from the USB drive, the folder I created is gone...

Is it possible to create a USB drive that I can boot from on different PCs, or at least one PC, and that saves the modifications I make so I can work on it?

Thank you.

Download and extract ventoy-1.0.96-linux.tar.gz
to install ventoy with space at end of usb for a partition to store files viewable by file managers of live iso:
cd <path to ventoy-1.0.96 directory>
sh Ventoy2Disk.sh -r <amount of space in mib> -I /dev/sdx

For persistance:
copy iso to ventoy directory
run CreatePersistentImg.sh to create persistence file and put into ventoy directory.
Code:
sh CreatePersistentImg.sh --help
for options

Set label according to here:
https://www.ventoy.net/en/plugin_persistence.html for iso dat file and give unique name to correspond with iso

run
Code:
sh VentoyPlugson.sh /dev/sdx
to add persitence to boot menu.
