strange X resolution problem

hi there:

i have just install X11 and fluxbox and am having this strange resolution peoblem. as far as i can tell, my Xorg.0.log reads like:

PHP Code:

(--) TRIDENT(0): Virtual size is 1024x768 (pitch 1024)
(**)
TRIDENT(0): *Default mode "1024x768"65.0 MHZ48.4 KHZ60.0 Hz
(IITRIDENT(0): Modeline "1024x768" 65.00 1024 1048 1184 1134 768 771 777 806 -hsync -vsync
i guess this means that the screen resolution is set to 1024x768, and for the most part my fluxbox looks right. but when i fire up certain apps (firefox for example), the default window size is very big, as well as all hte buttons and things as if the screen is 800X600. is this possible?

can anyone help?

cheers

CHUN

If this is the same issue I had it's a Gtk problem, not your resolution. Have a squiz here and see if it helps

hi there:

thanks for the reply, this sounds like the right direction, i have tried adding Xft.dpi:96 in .Xresources but no luck. and what's the name to emerge to get gnome-control-center?

many thanks
