Question Strange screen problem installing fedora

Hi all,

I'm getting a very strange problem when I try to install Fedora Core 4 on a HP Pavillion zd8007 laptop.

Whenever the system boots the install/upgrade menu is displayed but no matter what option I choose I get the same problem, that is the screen seems to corrupt. Small white dots appear all over the screen until the display is totally white at which stage the dots start to turn black again, this seems to repeat over and over again.

I'm not sure if the system has totally crashed as I think the DVD drive is still being accessed.

Has anyone seen a similar problem and could point me towards a solution??

Thanks in advance!

Mark

BTW, i'm sorry if this question has been repeatedly asked, I couldnt find any info the forums that pointed to this problem.

It looks like a problem with video card driver. Boot the installation again, then at the first promot you should have a possibility to see more options that you can use. On the list there should be a way to start low-res installation. It should be better.

Thanks for your reply.

I was able to solve the problem by adding "nofb" to the boot command line.

In the release documentation it notes that certain hardware configurations (particularly LCD screens) may experience problems in the install and that adding "nofb" to the boot command line will solve the problem.

Thanks again.

Mark
