i'm facing a few problems in slackware 10.0.
...............................
1> i've four desktops on my system.....now being on any desktop if i'm moving the mouse curser on the right top, any other desktop is getting opened (and not a particular sequence is being followed.........any desktop is geting opened).

2> second problem is that my all media players, namely xine, kaboodle, xmms, are getting currupted..............is there any way of getting them back through the slackware CD or i get them through internet or i reinstall the O/S ???

any kind of help will be highly appriciated.

1) What desktop environment / window manager are you running?

2) You can find the packages on your CD, then use pkgtool to remove the existing packages and re-install the ones on the CD. If all your media players aren't working, though, it sounds like some larger problem. What are the exaqct symptoms of your issue?

Sure - xine and xmms are parts of the distro (I don't know kaboodle),
they are in the slackware/xap on CD 1 ... all you need to do is mount
it and then installpkg /<path>/<to>/<cdrom>/slackware/xap/xine*tgz
and installpkg /<path>/<to>/<cdrom>/slackware/xap/xmms*tgz

The "getting corrupted" however is definitely a worry.

hi there

if u aer having some problem wit he settings that u havbe done
then one way out is
there are hidden directories in /root,if u are using root as ur username

there is a directory for xine and xmms and kde also
delete them ,this will create new directoris with default settings next time u login

Thanx to u people to help me out..........

I was running "kde".
And all of this didn't happen suddenly........
one by one things were getting corrupted.....first of all juke player, then xmms then xine and then kaboodle and in between the problem of desktop.

first of all i tried the easiest way suggested by Mr. Masand and to my great surprise it worked .....

anyways i'll keep all the other ways suggested by u people for future use.

I think you should warn people of "side-effects" when
giving that advice ...

E.g. a deletion of ~/.kde will not only "fix" your kaboodle
settings but also delete your KMail settings and things
like that ... ;)

yes i understand that
but for someone who is ready to re-install the whole OS al together or the applications this wold not make any difference
