Squid failing to start fedora 5

Squid gives the follwoing error messages when i attepmt to start it:

Sep 10 12:33:24 localhost (squid): Cannot open '/var/log/squid/access.log' for writing. The parent directory must be writeable by the user 'squid', which is the cache_effective_user set in squid.conf.
Sep 10 12:33:24 localhost squid[3423]: Squid Parent: child process 3446 started

Would greatly appreciate the help i can get out there.

You should run:
Code:
chown -R squid /var/log/squid

It's not an error. squid just complains that it cannot write its log in that directory. Now we know also the group you can use:
Code:
chown -R squid:squid /var/log/squid
Since you're running Fedora, this could be a SELinux problem. If that's hte case, then this could be of help.
