squid authentication

need help,

i'm using a squid proxy server (redhat9) with authentication. it's working fine, but
what i need is for the passwords to expire every a certain number of days and for newly
created username to be forced to change password at first login. how do i go about this??
i tried in sytem settings-users and groups. it works when logging to the server but not with squid.

by the way, im using ncsa_auth
what authentication program does the linux system use?
