i am a new user of linux and i have a system with 865 intel desktop bord with 896 ram and 80 g.b. hord disk i have installed open susi 10.3 verson along with vista of microsoft but i try to hear the songs in mp.3 format with support of real palyer it seems that the real player is beenig played but i could not hera sound from the system when i rebbot the system and entered in vista i can hear the sound. In opensusi 10.3 version i can see the sount mixtur icon but i couln nothear the sound plese guid me
Open a terminal window and type alsamixer then check the main volume to make sure it is up. If you've never worked with the alsa mixer just use your directional keys to navigate left or right, the up down will raise or lower the highlighted section. When you are done press the Esc. key to exit the program.
Try adjusting also PCM, front, wave etc, etc.. depending on the card.
Make sure the channel you adjust is not muted ('MM' at the base of the volume bar, if you see this press 'm' to unmute).
