Red face sound card does not work in Fedora 8 for lenovo 3000 G410 Model


hi i have installed fedora core 8 on my lenovo laptop 3000 model g410
it detects the sound card by name intel 82801H HD audio controller and in PCM device as ALC861VD anolog but it does not play sound .

can any body help me out.

Firstly, Fedora 8 has long reached the End Of Life period. So it will not receive any updates. If it is a new installation then you should consider installing a newer version. F10 is current and F11 should be out some time later.
Another advantage would be that latest versions will have most of the latest drivers and should support devices out of the box.

It would also be helpful if you post the output of lspci command if you cant upgrade to latest version.

Well, as a root, type alsaconf at terminal / konsole. Ur soundcard is detected, but not configured or perhaps muted. You can also run any mixer and unmute vol or pcm or master.

i tried that. its not muted. any other solutions for this ? will be a great help

Ok. Do you have /etc/modprobe.conf or alsa-base ? you might edit and add this line: options snd-hda-intel model=auto.
Btw, what is the output of modinfo soundcore?
