When the attempted installations crash, what error messages are displayed?
Would you also please post your repository list (zypper -lr).

The command 'uname -r' will show which Suse 11.4 you have.
And please answer the question from @tommyttt, post #2 :
Show us the reply from the command 'zypper lr' ( No hyphen ! )
There may be a problem with the opera package from Suse ( 64bits.)
This one works :
wget http://get.opera.com/pub/opera/linux...-1074.i386.rpm
> > opera-11.50-1074.i386.rpm
Then you can do 1) su <enter-password>; 2) zypper in opera-11.50-1074.i386.rpm
About torrent : These packages are availabe with # 'zypper in' (Or Yast.):
Code:
# zypper se torrent

Well, you already have two terminal windows, where you can type commands :
'gnome-terminal' or 'konsole', and 'xterm' :
Menu > More Applications > System Tools > XTerm
( Or type terminal in the "Search", and select a terminal.)
The command 'uname -r' will show which Suse 11.4 you have.

#10 : The first command is su, and then enter your root password.
The second command is : zypper in opera
And by the way, the Suse opera package works OK,
I just installed it with zypper on my other "Suse 11.4 computer".
And used the launcher in the "KDE Menu" :
Applications > Internet > Web Browser > 'Web Browser Opera'.
The command 'uname -r' will show which Suse 11.4 you have.
