smb.conf access denied during save

have been experimenting with different Distro's and just installed Mandriva 2008. I have installed samba and tried to edit the smb.conf but got access denied during the save!?!?! I did go to console and login as root.

Also while I am here....tried to install Swat from software management and got and error (due to unsatisfied xinetd)

Try to add write permissions to the file.
In the terminal switch to root and then type
Code:
chmod +w smb.conf
