Slow wi-fi

Hello everyone!

I'm one of those persons who installed Linux on their laptop, started using it, and everything seems OK except one annoying little thing: slow Wi-Fi. When I boot Windows on the same laptop Wi-Fi speed is much more better. can anyone help me? I understand I provided no info to solve the problem but what do you need to know? Where to start?

Basics are the first place to start...how about things like what version/distro of Linux?? What brand/model of laptop?? What kind of wifi hardware?? That's the starting point.

To build on what TBone said, you can determine your wireless chipset using Linux by running the command lspic (list pci devices) in a terminal. You may have to run the command as root.

It's the chipset inside the wireless card, not the brand of the wireless card, that matters.
