I am attempting to install slackware 12.2 on a Dell Latitude D830 laptop. I downloaded the iso images and burned them on a CD. I put disc 1 in to the cd rom and restarted the computer (from windows XP). After reboot I get an error message saying it could not boot linux, with a BOOT: prompt. I tried typing in hugesmp.s still get a failed message. At this point I'm not really sure what to do, and haven't had much luck searching google. Any links, tips, or tricks would be greatly appreciated!
to burn the CDS I did the create disc from image, when opening the CDs for browsing on XP I can access and view all the files just fine. The disc verification did verify alright.
Sadly that was the error message BOOT: linux failed. BOOT: hence my confusion....
However, I got it here, bmarx you were on the right track. The ISOs I downloaded were fine, however, something apparently was goofy with the burn software I used to write the image (NCH Express Burn) to disc. After installing new burn software and using that to burn the iso, it appears that I am off to the races. Thank you for all your help!
