Simulat18 introduction

Hi - this is my intro to this forum.
I'm a windows escapee - used windows since it started and have always disliked it. Linux is what an operating system should be like and now in my retirement I am moving away from Windows a lot. I bought a new computer configured as a ubuntu box. It's great but there is an email problem when I use Evolution.

It won't connect to my isp's pop server.

My isp does not support linux and gave me a brush off when I asked about the issue. I have all my ports and stuff set up right - I think!?

But it doesn't work. Any suggestions?

you need to ask your isp to specify - in general - how can a user connect to that server, using any kind of software.
Next you need to check if you can reach that server at all.

Thanks Pan
I did talk to the isp and I'm using their recommended settings. The error message says that the system can't connect to the pop server. The only thing I notice is that Evolution talks about POP and not POP3. Could that be an issue?

Maybe it's not a pop server.
