Microsoft have, in their infinite wisdom, decided to block third party clients from using their servers. This decision kicked in today. I would keep an eye on the Gaim homepage to see if and when they release a new plugin to take care of this.
I was talking with a friend now thru gaim, but for Windows (yeah, school work). They said the protocols should be changed at 15th October, but today, 16th, it's still working for me
Originally posted by ilikejam There's been a few posts about MSN on LQ, and they're all saying that Gaim installations that were working a day ago have now failed.
Weird that you can still get in through Windows. Maybe Gaim uses a dll from the MS Messenger installation? Who knows.......
Dave
It could be that too. MSN messenger is a very very important program for WinXP. That thing is like stuck into the system
Thanks for helping everyone. That stuff about blocking third party clients is new to me. I'll keep trying from time to time and look i'll keep my eye out for a plugin.
The latest version seems to be able to log in just fine. (And its interface is a whole lot nicer too). I'm IM'ing on MSN with Gaim 0.71 with no problems at all.
