You should first read the "How to ask a smart question" and "Question Guidelines" links in my posting signature. The obvious answer to "how do you get good at something" is: "You do it".

There are many thousands of bash scripting tutorials and guides, with examples, that you can easily find with an Internet search, much like how you found this site. These should get you going:
http://tldp.org/HOWTO/Bash-Prog-Intro-HOWTO.html
http://www.tldp.org/LDP/Bash-Beginners-Guide/html/
http://tldp.org/LDP/abs/html/

We are happy to help with specific problems/questions, but doing basic research on your own should always be your first step.

Check out links below:

Hands-on exercises is one of the best way to learn. With that said, if you want to learn Shell scripting live with it.

#1 see all posts above this one.

#2 practice for years. (OK, perhaps not years, but certainly practice a lot.)

Scripting is properly programming in a script language. The better your procedural programming skills the better you will be.

BUT: like any other kind of programming, it is an act of creativity. The better your imagination and problem solving skills the better you will be.

Balance, programming logic with creativity, logical problem solving/troubleshooting with solution imagination, is key. If you ignore one kind of skill to focus on the other you will not grow quite as fast as if you work a bit on BOTH kinds of skills at the same time.

Proper practice means finding or defining problems that you then must solve by creative use of scripting.

It is a wonderful journey, and I hope you have a lot of fun on the way.
