[SOLVED] Sharp AR-5316 drivers that are compatible with Ubuntu

i am using ubuntu 10.10 maverik and i am trying to use it with sharp printer AR-5316 BUT i have not found any drivers that are compatible with the printer!! any one with an idea of how to go about it!!!

Hi kiruja,

it doesn't look good with drivers for sharp-printers.

You'll need a ppd file for this printer or a similar printer from sharp. Here: http://www.openprinting.org/printer/Sharp/Sharp-AR-161 you'll find at least ppd files for sharp. I'd guess you'll have to try out if there is one working with your printer.

I've searched on the sharp-downloadsite, but they only have drivers for Windows.... I'm wondering what do people with a Mac??? You know cups is a product of Apple, maybe one can find help looking for Mac-drivers.

I have been using other pinters like hp and epson on my pc very successfully. But I have been struggling for Sharp printer AR 5516 to work on Ubuntu9.04. I would like to know what can be done is it possible to get some other sharp printer's driver or ppd file and modify it to work with AR 5516 Printer.

Please guide

Did you check the driver (ppd-file) for the ar5316 (link in post #2)?
